On 21 June 2023, the Energy Community Repository launched an online survey dedicated to energy communities from the European Union and the Western Balkans. The aim of the survey is to gain a better understanding of the impact of energy communities. This includes their role in the social, environmental, economic, energy-related, and governance levels of the energy transition. The input collected will be displayed on a map of energy communities from this area.

The Akaryon team was implementing this feature together with its project partners from designing the questions to providing a technical solution for publishing them online.

Completing this survey adds an energy community to the map. In addition to representation, this will also help decision-makers at the EU level and in member states to support the development of energy communities.

The survey can be filled in until 15 September 2023. In case of not having enough time to answer all the questions, a highlighted subset of mandatory questions was created, that will allow to undertake a minimal impact assessment, and add the energy communities to the map. These questions should take approximately only 15 minutes to complete.

The already-completed questions will be saved so that the participant can pick up where they left off in the event of a technical issue or the need for a break.
