Work on the European Energy Communities Facility: Support & info hub for Energy Communities

At the beginning of September 2024, the kick-off meeting for our new project, the European Energy Communities Facility, took place, once again focusing on energy communities in Europe. It is the successor to the Energy Communities project, which concluded last year. Over the next 3.5 years, we will help build a platform that provides funding opportunities and services for energy community projects across the EU.

Petra Busswald and Franz Niederl represented akaryon in Brussels, where they met the other project partners and discussed the project’s timeline, organization, and goals. akaryon will be responsible for the technical implementation of the project website, which will feature interactive maps and a comprehensive collection of information for energy communities. We will also handle the technical implementation of the application process for funding.

Now the work is starting across all areas, and we will soon be able to present the project website. I’m excited to bring it to life and to implement some great features that will help energy communities connect and offer interested citizens fascinating insights into the topic of energy communities and their growing presence in Europe.
